Can I talk to any counselor?

Yes, the counselors are separated into grade levels because of classroom lessons. We see each class each week for thirty minutes. Any counselor is available to talk with you or your child at any time. You and your child may talk to whomever you feel most comfortable.

Who can I call when my child is having trouble at home or school?

Any school counselor at Riverdale is always eager to help. Phone or email is a great line of communication.

What does the school counselor do?

We go into each class each week for thirty minutes to discuss social skills, organizational skills, character building, career awareness, academic support, friend issues, and a variety of other topics that are tailored to their grade level. We also provide individual counseling, group counseling, parent/teacher conferences, and overall support to the students.

Should I call my child’s counselor to keep them informed?

Please, the students are our main focus and we want them to feel happy and safe at home and school. It is important for the counselors to be informed in order to provide an effective learning environment for your child.

How can my child contact the school counselor?

Your student can write a note and ask their teacher to put it in the counselor’s box or ask their teacher for permission to come to the counseling office.
